The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz is well known as the major piece of early Rosicrucian writing. It is in the form of an allegorical romance, with a well-paced plot that captures the interest of the reader, and through the medium of allegory, conveys the essential esoteric philosophy underlying Rosicrucianism. Although the text in a 17th century English translation has been available recently in various publications, it really needs a commentary to help unravel the elaborate threads of esoteric ideas that form its fabric. Adam McLean here attempts to provide such an extensive commentary, hoping to elucidate and throw some light upon the transformative process outlined in this most important of Alchemical allegories.
