French writer Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893) was a pioneer in weird fiction. A master of the short story, Maupassant wrote dozens of tales in which horror, madness, crime, and the supernatural play a key part. This volume presents for the first time the totality of Maupassant’s work in the weird tale — well over 30 tales, including both the short and long versions of his most famous horror story, “The Horla,” along with such classics as “He?,” “Was It a Dream?,” “The Diary of a Madman,” and many others.
